Uros and Amantan Islands June 27
Breakfast. Departure at 08.30AM. Lake Titicaca and the Floating Islands are an important tourist attraction in the department of Puno. The splendid landscape and the fascinating life of its inhabitants make visiting the islands a pleasant one. Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the world. It has an area of 8,560 square kilometers and a maximum depth of 227 meters. There are 36 islands Taquile, the most important, Amantaní, Soto, Anapia and Uros. The Uros Floating Islands, located 5 kilometers from Puno, at an altitude of 3,810 meters, has a cold and dry climate. It is a set of 40 large floating islands of reed where the inhabitants continue to live like their ancestors. It is considered one of the oldest towns in America, maintaining its customs and traditions. The Uros are called kotsuña = lake people, which dates back to pre-Inca times. They maintain the tradition of artisanal fishing and especially hunting wild birds. After the visit we will continue the tour for approximately two hours to the island of Amantani. Isla Amantaní is located 36 kilometers from the port city of Puno, in front of the Capachica peninsula. The island is characterized by the presence of shrubby plants and inhabited by native Quechua speakers still governed by their ancient traditions, whose main occupation is the production of ceramics and textiles. The positive energy of this island is so powerful that it is known as the "Island of Love". Upon reaching the island we will taste a typical lunch, then we will go to the ceremonial centers "Pachatata" and "Pachamama", a sacred place. At night we will stay in family houses enjoying the hospitality of a typical Amantani home. AMANTANI DOES NOT HAVE A HOTEL, therefore, the services are basic. Lunch and dinner at the homestay
